ARMY DENTAL CORPS
69TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED IN KOLKATA
Kolkata: February 1, 2010
The 69th Anniversary of Army's elite Dental Corps is being celebrated today. It was on 01 February 1941 that the Army Dental Corps was established.
A seven-day programme started with oral cancer detection camp and blood donation camp at the Eastern Command Military Dental Centre (ECMDC). The anniversary celebration is marked with introduction of new 'Optical oral Cancer Detection Equipment' with the CMDC.
During the blood donation drive more than 150 Jawans, Officers and their families have donated blood.
The Army's Dental Corps was earlier known as Indian Medical Service, IMS (Dental). IMS (D) was renamed as Army Dental Corps (ADC) in 1943.
Today the ADC brings smiles to the members of Armed Forces and their families with the highly skilled dentists and oral hygienists. The week long celebrations of the 69th Anniversary of the dental corps, also aims to inform the troops and their families the harmful effects of Tobacco consumption.
