Dr Salah Al Bandar is the current Secretary General of Gulf Centre for Democratic Development, a London-registered non-governmental organisation. He is known for his role in the 'Bandargate' scandal when he released a report in 2006 which outlined the conspiracy to suppress Shias in Bahrain.

** Haneefa Sarwar is a campaigns officer for Islamic Human Rights Commission, a London-based NGO. She graduated with a BSc in nursing, and works part time as a nurse. She has been working on Bahrain related campaigns for a year and a half as part of her work with IHRC.

***Maryam Al Khawaja is an active member in the Bahrain Center for Human Rights. She has been responsible for contacting and updating international human rights organizations about the situation in Bahrain, as well as collecting testimonies from kidnapped victims and families of detainees. She was invited in October 2008 to testify before the Human rights Caucus of the US Congress on religious Freedom in Bahrain, and as a result a defamation campaign was launched against her and her colleagues in the Bahraini media. Maryam has been active in human rights both in Bahrain and during her year in the U.S., participating in symposia, demonstrations and fund-raising campaigns to heighten awareness of discrimination, torture, occupation and other human rights abuses.

Dinner will be served. All Welcome. For catering purposes, please register by sending an email to info@open-discussions.com
