BHARAT NIRMAN PUBLIC INFORMATION CAMPAIGN INAUGURATED AT BHAGABANPUR
Bajkul, Wednesday, March 10, 2010.
The Union Minister of State for Rural Development Shri Sisir Adhikary
has stressed the need for eradication of poverty to strengthen the
rural economy. He was inaugurating the Bharat Nirman Public
Information Campaign at Bajkul Milani Maha Vidyalaya ground under
Bhagabanpur-1 Block of Purba Medinipur district today. He said that in
order to remove poverty, the Central Government has taken a number of
pro-people programmes and given priority to their successful
implementation. Observing that although the programmes have been
started all over the country, their implementation have not been at
equal pace in all parts of the country. He called upon all concerned
to create proper awareness among the people about the programmes for
their fruitful execution. Highlighting the importance of the RTI Act
Shri Adhikary said that it has created an opportunity for seeking
information and giving information. The Act has also become a tool to
ensure transparency and sharing of information about the government
programmes and the way they are being executed.
The Minister said that the Bharat Niaman Public information Campaign
has created an opportunity for the people living in the remote rural
areas to know about the different development and welfare projects and
schemes and how to benefit from such projects.
Sk. Mahmud Hosain, Saha-Sabhadhipati of Purba Mediniur Zilla Parishad,
Shri Ardhendu Maity, MLA, Sk. Harun Rashid, Sabhapati of Bhagabanpur-1
Panchayat Samity, also highlighted the importance of such Public
Information Campaign. Shri Deepankar Mukhopadhyay, Director General,
DFP, Dr. Satyanarayan Sau, Acting Principal of the college, many
Panchayati Raaj functionaries and government officers were also
present in the inaugural function. Shri Santanu Palodi, Addl. Director
General, PIB and Shri Debanjan Chakraborty, Addl. Director General,
DFP, spoke about the purpose of holding such public information
campaign.
Later the minister inaugurated two exhibitions on Bharat Nirman put up
by DAVP and DFP. Before the inaugural programme a rally of about 400
students was taken out at Bajkul area. The participants in the rally,
organized by the DFP carried banners, posters, placards containing
information about development and welfare schemes undertaken by the
government. During the 5-day Bharat Nirman PIC, besides the media
units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and other
government departments a number of Self Help Groups have put up
stalls. Seminars and interactive sessions on various schemes will be
organized as part of the campaign. The artists of the Song and Drama
Division will also present cultural programmes.
