It's been a great month for us (see below) and we hope it's been the same for you too. We've also got lots of news from elsewhere to tell you about.

OUR BIGGEST EVENT EVER!!!
It all took place on Tuesday 13th at the Deloitte Auditorium. We had lots of people come and had great feedback afterwards. We screened some amazing short films and then networked long into the night. We also launched the Best Of British 2009 short film slate, further details of which are below. And, last but not least, we also raised lots of money for Cancer Research UK. Our next event is coming up on Tuesday 15th December. Mark your diaries now! You can also now submit films your films for this event. All the details are here.
Cannes BEST OF BRITISH SHORTS 2009
This is a brand new initiative run by Candella Films and funded by the University Of Salford. This sees the chosen films forming a folder which is sent to festivals around the world. The inaugural selection of films has now been launched and have already seen some of the films get selected for festivals. This is based on a Spanish model which has proved to be very successful with several films getting Oscar nominations. The British 2010 slate is now open for submissions. WANTED ART DIRECTORS AND PRODUCTION DESIGNERS - MEMOIRS OF AN ALIEN
Only one man has the secret to stop the destruction of our planet by extraterrestrials. But is this man human or is he too an alien? We are shooting an upcoming pilot for this near future sci-fi series (shooting end of November) and we need art directors, set decorators and production designers that thrive on the freedom of creativity and a challenge. PITCHING COMPETITION - GUY FAWKES NIGHT
The Fast Forward Club is holding a Pitching Competition on 5th November from 6.30. There is a budget of £4,500 and this will be used either to make one project or several depending on the ideas pitched. Run with A World To Win, they are looking for ideas dealing with one of three topics (1) The impact the financial crisis is having (2) Climate/eco-system/species survival (3) Democracy being used to serve big corporations.
