INNOVATIVE FOREST MANAGEMENT PROJECTS UNDER RIDF IN WEST BENGAL
Kolkata, March26, 2010


NABARD has sanctioned six innovative forest management projects
covering an area of 17,785 ha under Rural Infrastructure Development
Fund (RIDF) in Burdwan, Bankura, Birbhum, Nadia, Paschim Medinipur and
Purulia districts of the state.

The short term objectives of the projects are:
1.      regenaration and development of degraded forests and in the process
enhance the biological diversity
2.      augmentation of the availability of fuel wood, fodder and grasses
from the  regenerated areas.

The long term benefits from the projects would be:
1.      protection, conservation of natural resources.
2.      checking land degradation,deforestation and loss of biodiversity

The projects are expected to generate non-recurring employment of
11.33 lakh mandays.

In addition, four Rural Road projects ( Rs. 10.12cr) in Purba
Medinipur district and one Flood Protection project ( Rs. 8.39cr) in
Malda district have also been sanctioned by NABARD under RIDF. With
this, NABARD has sanctioned Rs. 920.32 cr covering 2826 projects under
RIDF XV during the year 2009-10, which is the highest ever sanction to
the State under RIDF, registering a 15% growth over sanctions during
the previous year at Rs. 801 cr.

SHIFTING OF CGHS OFFICE
Kolkata, March 26, 2010

The CGHS BBD CGHS Wellness Centre (No.X) will be shifted from 39,
Rabindra Sarani, Kolkata-700073 to its new complex at 5, Esplanade
East (Gr. Floor), Kolkata-700 069 and the same will start functioning
w.e.f. 29th March, 2010.
