MCD sends letter for extra funds  HT Correspondent, Hindustan Times New Delhi, March 08, 2011  To implement the Right to Education (RTE) Act properly in all its schools, and create educational infrastructure, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) sent another reminder to Delhi government on Monday, asking for funds. According to MCD's education committee chairman Mahender Nagpal, the civic agency had asked for R150 crore, but were given only R112.5 crore to meet various expenses including construction of new school buildings, teachers salaries and running the mid-day meal scheme in its schools.  "About R37.5 crore is still pending to be released to us and for this we have sent them another reminder letter on Monday. They have accepted the letter and also given us verbal assurance that the pending amount would be released soon," said Nagpal.  He said that for the all-round development of students of its primary schools, the MCD has started implementing its sports policy. In the first phase, playgrounds will be developed in 19 primary schools at the cost of R1 crore. Already, playgrounds have been developed in four schools, where training is imparted for individual and team events.
