To train teachers and create awareness regarding the new Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) scheme, the CBSE is planning to organise an intensive training workshop for teachers.

The CCE, introduced for Class IX in all schools affiliated to the CBSE last October, will be implemented for Class X from the 2010-11 session.

"The Board has already conducted a few training workshops for principals and teachers to create awareness regarding the school-based assessment and the CCE scheme," the CBSE spokesperson said.

"Formative and summative assessment, as well as tools and techniques of assessment in scholastic and co-scholastic skills, were discussed in these workshops."

The new workshops will be different from the previous ones as these involve a questionnaire to identify quality teachers. The Board has directed all schools to ask teachers to "fill a questionnaire on teaching excellence" and send only "interested teachers" to the workshop.

Some of the questions mentioned in the questionnaire include "your most memorable teaching experience", "the most difficult experience", "a brief description of an ideal student", "how would I like to be remembered by students", and "how do you perceive yourself as a role model".

A CBSE official said: "There will be intensive screening of teachers after receiving the questionnaires as only a group of 50 teachers will be selected from each region."

The first workshop is scheduled to be held between April and June.

"Only those teachers who are willing to work extensively for the implementation of the CCE may apply for the training," the official added.

"The workshop will be directed and led by quality teachers who have been involved in similar academic activities for the last few years," the spokesperson said.
