PRESS RELEASE                                      NHRC reminders to Union Home Secretary and Delhi Chief Secretary for their reports on midnight police action on sleeping protestors in Delhi; Report from the Delhi Police Commissioner received Dated: 8th July, 2011, New Delhi         The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has sent reminders to the Union Home Secretary and the Chief Secretary, Government of NCT Delhi calling for their reports, which are still awaited, on the midnight police action on the people gathered at the Ramlila ground in the intervening night of the 04-05 June, 2011 in the national capital. On the 6th June, 2011, they alongwith the Delhi Police Commissioner were asked by the Commission to submit their reports into the circumstances leading to such an action within two weeks. However, so far only the Delhi Police Commissioner has responded to NHRC's notice with a report.         The Commission had asked the concerned officers that their reports should specifically give information on the following points:-  1.     Reasons for resorting to such an action in the midnight;  2.     How many people have been injured and is there any proposal to compensate them; 3.
