Uprooted Champoor people stranded by heavy rains

Normalcy has been completely disturbed as the monsoon rains are continuing to wreak havoc in the North-East. Around 30,000 people have been displaced in Paduvaan-karai area of the Batticaloa district. The uprooted people from Champoor, languishing in the so-called welfare centers in Moothoor East have been fully affected by the floods, reports from Trincomalee said. 

The sluice gates of Kanthalaay tank were opened causing additional flooding across the roads of Kaddai-pa'richchaan. 

1,160 persons belonging to 352 uprooted Champoor families are severely affected by the foods at the Kaddai-pa'richchaan camp, 1,005 belonging to 310 families at Ki'liveddi camp, 428 persons from 134 families are affected at Paddiththidal camp and 217 persons from 59 families completely affected at Ma'nal-cheanai camp, civil sources in Moothoor East said.
